Small games built out of pieces, and the places they get played in. Open one and look around — nothing on this page needs an account, and nothing asks you to install anything.
A game, not a level. Things break, something is counted, and it ends.
A movie, already cut.
Three rounds, two corners, and a jab that is seventy milliseconds of nothing before it can hurt anybody. Block, slip or parry - each of the three beats something the others lose to, and the uppercut goes straight through a guard. Not a level: this document names a game the host runs, built on the XP engine as its own package.
Take theirs, get it home. Hit the carrier and it drops where they stood - and yours has to be fetched back.
Chess on a board that is alive. Move a piece or seed a cell, and every round the squares between them are born and die - your back rank is what keeps the colony breathing. Two players, one king each.
A lit 3D yard: your own peep, real pack props, a golden ball to chase.
Run the lunch service. Take an order, cook it, carry it out before the customer gives up - and spend the takings on a bigger kitchen. Out of the front door is the garden, and past the garden is the house you are earning it for: one purse, one plot of land, two cartridges. Not a level - this document names a game the host runs, and the host is the space it is opened in.
A hand-written document, to prove the runtime reads one. The stairs climb because a model's collision is its measured shape rather than its box; the way out is a gap in the wall, because a 1.6-metre doorway does not fit a one-metre grid.
Two goals, one ball, and nobody has hands. Run into the ball and it goes along in front of you; E kicks it and it rolls away along the ground, Q dashes. Kick off, score, back to the middle, first to three. If the ball ends up somewhere nobody can play it, the Room tab brings it back.
A race up a ladder of platforms. Four legs, each a different colour, each asking one more thing than the last: walk the stairs, jump the gaps, sprint the wide ones, then the gate. Miss a jump and you are back at the start — there is nothing under the course to land on, which is what makes it a platformer rather than a stroll.
The German card game, for two to five. A seven makes the next player draw two and a seven answers a seven, an eight skips, a nine turns the play around and a jack asks for a suit - but never onto another jack. Down to one card, say Mau, and if you forget, anybody may catch you for two. Not a level: this document names a game the host runs, and the deck is held somewhere no player can reach.
Four colours, four pieces each, one dice on the table. Roll it, walk to a piece, and send it round. First colour home wins.
Two rooms joined by a corridor, and everything a script can do that a verb cannot. A lift carries you to a ledge no jump reaches, a block patrols the gap in the dividing wall, a coin orbits and says so when you take it. Through the corridor is a pitch with a goal at each end.
A pond of glowing dots. Swim, boost, steal the ball - three rounds of it.
Three lanes, three peeps, one chart - hit the ring on the beat.
You are an animal in a park with a ball in it. Run into the ball and it rolls; E kicks it properly, and it goes as fast as you were running when you hit it. F is a dash, which is how you catch it. Eat the apples the trees drop. Knock over the critters and the strength bar fills - full, your dash goes rainbow, twice as far, and takes down whatever it touches.
Four rooms and the garden behind them, and a catalogue to fill both with. Buy the floor before you buy the sofa; step out of the front door and you are outside, and down the garden is the café that pays for all of it. One purse, one plot of land, two cartridges. Not a level - this document names a game the host runs.
Nothing to win and everything to knock over. Run into anything and it moves; E kicks it properly, F is a dash. Scatter the ball pit, bowl the skittles down, bat the floaters along - they hang where you leave them - launch something off a spring pad, and see how far you get with the boulder in the middle. Put anything through a hoop for a point.
One of you is a bug, and only the bug's gun works. The rest have work to do: finish every task, or call a meeting and vote it out before it finishes you.
The demo the rest of it was for, grown into a range you have to move around: forty cells of it on two floors, a gallery of targets that get back up, two that run, a bunker you shoot into through a window, and mines that come looking for you - every one of which is a rule or a script in this file rather than code in the runtime.
A run seen from the side, the way a platformer is meant to be. Everything happens along one axis and inside one screen of height — walk the steps, jump the gaps, sprint the long one, time the saw, and drop to the gate. Miss and you are back at the start; there is nothing under it to land on.
Everybody in the room is a soft body. Wobble around and shove each other into the walls.
A greenhouse everybody shares and a shelf that is only yours. Take a plant, carry it home, and watch somebody take it back.
A hand-written document with more than one place in it. Walk onto the blue pad and the whole room goes down to the cellar together - the level does not change, only which room of it everybody is standing in. The orange pad down there brings you back, and it is the one door only `scene` can spell: the front room is called `main` and `main` is not in the scenes table, so a door naming it as an xp would go looking for a file nobody wrote.
Take theirs, get it home. Hit the carrier and it drops where they stood.
Places rather than games: arenas, pitches, hangouts, built block by block.
